Dieting is not always about starving. You need to eat according to your meal plan so that your body gets detoxed naturally. The objective is to satisfy your hunger pangs with healthy food and not feel deprived. That’s why it’s okay to munch on a couple of snacks when the hunger pangs get intense. There are many diet plans where you can have your occasional snack without worrying that you might lose your detox benefits or gain weight. These snacks have special recipes that will detox the body efficiently. Here are a couple of easy DIY snack recipes that you can try at home:
1. Chocolate oat energy bars
You wouldn’t even have imagined that it is okay to have chocolate when you are on a diet, especially when you are on a detox diet plan. But chocolate oat energy bars are very popular when it comes to detox snacks and they are so delicious! Here’s what you need for the recipe:
A cup of Medjool dates, half cup of peanuts or raw almonds, a tablespoon of vanilla, half cup or slightly more whole rolled oats, two tablespoons of water, a pinch of salt, and a tablespoon of chia seeds.
Remove the pits from the dates and process it along with the peanuts in a food processor. Keep adding chia seeds, rolled oats, vanilla extract, salt, and water in the processor for 20 to 30 seconds. This will chop and blend all the ingredients together. Once you’re happy with the consistency, pour everything in a flat container and press the mixture down to give it an even shape.
Melt dark, fat-free chocolate and pour it over the mixture and let it cool down. Cut the mixture into rectangles and you’ll have a super tasty detox snack of chocolate oat energy bars ready and waiting.
2. Baked sweet potatoes with avocado sauce
Detox snacks like these are almost heavenly because they’re so tasty that you won’t miss those “bad” old snacks you had before starting your diet. Peel three medium-sized sweet potatoes and cut them into half-inch slices. Make sure that you rinse and dry them before you place them on the baking sheet. You’ll also need a ripe avocado, a tablespoon of cornmeal, a tablespoon of melted coconut oil, one garlic clove, a bunch of freshly chopped parsley, two limes, and a pinch of salt.
Before you do anything else, preheat your oven at 180°C or 350°F. Add the pinch of salt, coconut oil, and cornmeal to the slices of sweet potatoes and toss everything so it’s well mixed. Roast the potatoes for 10 minutes; then take them out, toss again, and roast for another 10 minutes.
You can prepare the avocado sauce while the potatoes are in the oven. Take lime juice, avocado, and garlic clove in a grinder and mix them well. Voila! The sauce is prepared. Serve the sweet potatoes by sprinkling freshly chopped parsley along with the avocado sauce. It will be a snack that you’ll want to have every day.
Of course there are many varieties of detox snacks but these two are very easy to make and super tasty.
